What is chemistry anyway? Chemistry is a part of science that studies how chemicals combine and react. In this week, we are going to be exploring all kinds of different chemical reactions. We will conduct color changing experiments, experiments with fruit, soap and electroplating. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. All matter is made of atoms so in this camp, we will examine both atoms and molecules. We will obtain hands-on experience with chemicals found in the kitchen. A $50 materials fee will be payable to the instructor by the first day of camp.

Schedule : Weekly - Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM; 4 sessions; starting 7/3/2017, ending 7/7/2017

Tuition: $105.00

What’s out in that vastness that we call ‘space?’ Explore our solar system, test for life in its outer reaches, and investigate the means of traveling to other planets in this down-to-earth study of the ‘space’ around us. Discover technology designed for outer space. Live the life of an astronaut as you suit up for space flight. Compare the temperatures on Neptune with Venus and practice an out-of-this-world team challenge. Work out your escape velocity to get away from gravity. Explore the farthest reaches of our solar system and create a lunar eclipse in this “mad” planetary tour! A $75 Materials fee is payable to the instructor the first day of camp.

Orville and Wilbur Wright worked together, despite sibling rivalry, to develop the first self-controlled motorized flying machine. Their team efforts also lead to improved bicycle pedals and faster sleds. We will review technological advances in flight and work together to produce improved plane designs. This week you will also become a Mad Science biologist, ornithologist and entomologist. Where do owls live and what do they eat? How do some bugs walk on water? How do ants collect all their food? These questions and more will be answered with an exploration of birds, owls and bugs. We have also carved out some great demonstrations and experiments that explore nature. A $75 Materials fee is payable to the instructor the first day of camp.

This will be your day to see what may be hiding inside your creative mind. We will explore the science behind gadgets, inventions and many popular toys. Be ready to create your own invention during this day of creative thought and scientific discovery. Inventing means discovery and the best way to discover new places or ideas is with preparation and knowledge. As we prepare for our treasure hunt, we must know how to measure distances and understand other units of measure. We will then take our newfound knowledge and explore for the hidden treasure. A $75 Materials fee is payable to the instructor the first day of camp.
