Do you love the idea of walking out into your backyard and collecting fresh eggs for breakfast? Does the thought of keeping chickens intimidate you? Springtime is the time of year to get your own chicks or chickens to keep for eggs. This course will teach you everything about breeds of chickens, daily care and nutrition, proper coop space, chicken health and more. Students will select and incubate their own chicken eggs for hatching, learn to raise their chicks and even take them home at the end of the course! A $40 materials fee, which covers a backyard chicken starter kit and locally born chicks, is payable to instructor at first class. Please note dates of class are 3/4, 4/1 and 4/29 so students can learn the different phases of chicken care.
